I am a research scientist with broad interests in machine learning and artificial intelligence. My work on [[:research:largescale|large scale learning]] and [[:research:stochastic|stochastic gradient algorithms]] has received attention in the recent years. I am also known for the [[:research:djvu|DjVu document compression]] system.
I worked in [[http://research.facebook.com/ai|Facebook AI Research]] from March 2015 to February 2026. I am currently a visiting scholar at the [[https://www.simonsfoundation.org/flatiron/|Flatiron Institute]].
